North Korea launches ballistic missile

“North Korea fired an unidentified ballistic missile early this morning from Pyongsong, South Pyongan, to the east direction. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff is analyzing more details of the missile with the US side,” said an official at South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff. “The missile flew eastward and the South Korean military is analysing details with the US”, it said.

North Korea has already tested a nuclear device, claimed to be a hydrogen bomb. The last test was executed in 3 September 2017, surrounding countries have confirmed this by detecting shockwaves. But today North Korea has lunched a new ballistic missile that could reach the mainland USA. The missile flew above Japan and fell to the waters of Japan.

The ballistic missile is a precision weapon that travels through the outer space before it reaches its target. It can carry various nuclear warheads. According to North Korea they possess hydrogen bomb, so called thermo-nuclear bomb.

Thermo-nuclear weapons are nuclear weapons are hundred times more powerful than the traditional atomic bombs. Hydrogen bomb uses the energy released by atomic bomb to start a more powerful fusion reaction. A hydrogen bomb could destroy millions living in mega cities like New York or Los Angeles.

North Korea is against USA since the Korean War in 1953; the legacy of the destruction still lives on. The war lasted for 3 years and claimed 1.3 million North Korean civilian and military casualties and changed the Korean Peninsula forever. About 33,000 Americans soldiers were killed in the fighting and 600,000 from the Chinese military.

The recent sanctions agains North Korea seemed to make the conflict worse. President Donald Trump banned the North Korean citizens entering the USA. He also posted many offensive and personally insulting tweets about North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
